Angela J. Mason
In 1988, I became an engineer at the NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC). I work as an Aerospace Engineer in the Structural Dynamics Branch. I have made numerous contributions over the years including significant improvements to various systems in the High-Reynolds-Number Aerodynamics Branch; implementation of a new data analysis and plotting system which received very favorable reviews from industry users, and development of an employee mobility and training program within the Aerodynamics Division. In 1994, I began performing research in the Structural Dynamics Branch. My most recent contributions have involved experimental investigations on aircraft tires. Using high-quality test data, I helped validate theoretical predictions of the viscous behavior for a Space Shuttle Orbiter Nose-Gear Tire. These results are highly valued in the tire analysis community and have been documented in several valuable publications. The work I performed has resulted in five technical publications. I also initiated and took the lead in the implementation of the new state-of-the-art Aircraft Landing Dynamics Facility data acquisition system. Because of my dedication and commitment to this project, I received a NASA Superior Accomplishment Award in 1999. I am currently assigned to the Space Launch Initiative (SLI), Next Generation Launch Technology (NGLT), Vehicle Systems Research & Technology (VSR&T) Project Office (formally 2nd Generation Reusable Launch Vehicle) in the Space Access and Exploration Program Office. I am the NGLT VSR&T Integration Manager for the Systems Engineering & Integration Sub Project. In 2002, I received a NASA Superior Accomplishment Award for exceptional performance in support of Langley's activities in the SLI Program. I am also very involved in community service. I have served on numerous education committees, and initiated and judged academic contests. My activities at church have included director for Book Store (2002 - present), director of the Single Adult Fellowship and Evangelism Committee, Editor-in-Chief for the newsletter and choir member. I am a member of the National Technical Association. In October 1996, I received the "Professional Woman of the Year" Award noted by Commonwealth College for professional achievements, outstanding leadership and community service. I was born in Wilmington, Delaware. In 1981, I graduated from the Howard Career Center High School with academic emphasis on data processing. I later went on to attain a BA in Mathematics from Hampton University in 1985. I earned a MS in Engineering Management from The George Washington University in 2000. APRIL 2003 |
