What is FWP?

The Federal Women's Program (FWP) was established as a result of Executive Order 11375 [October 1967] which added sex to the other forms of discrimination in the federal government. The FWP is administered by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM).

The FWP seeks to enhance employment opportunities for women in every area of federal service.

Every federal department and agency has a Federal Women's Program Manager (FWPM). The FWPM acts as an agency's contact point, source of information and as an advisor to the head of the agency on matters involving the employment and career advancement of women. Some agencies have established FWP Committees.

Visit HQ FWP for more details on Background and Inception of this Program at NASA.

Note: FWP is a government function, hence, it is limited in its political scope, and cannot lobby Congress. However, Federally Employed Women (FEW) (a private organization) is not restricted in this area.

If you desire further information regarding the FWP, please contact your group representative (see "Members") or the FWP Manager, Venita Robinson (Venita.O.Robinson@nasa.gov) at (757) 864-2560.
