Introduction
The Diversity Awareness
Committee (DAC), formerly the Multicultural Leadership Team, was formed
in 1994. The renaming of the committee in 2002 grew out of a desire
to more accurately reflect the purpose and direction of the committee
as it relates to the Langley Mission. The DAC is a constituency group
under the special emphases umbrella of the Office of Equal Opportunity
Programs.
Vision
The DAC seeks an environment
that welcomes, celebrates, and promotes respect for the entire variety
of human experience. Ideally, this environment not only demonstrates
respect for individuals and their intrinsic worth, but also recognizes
our differences as sources of collective strength and creativity.
Mission
In our commitment
to the furthering of the Center's mission and values, as an advisory
committee to the Office of Equal Opportunity Programs, the DAC will
continuously search for new approaches to improve the quality of work-life
for all employees at the Center. To that end, the DAC is committed to
the development of all employees to their fullest potential. Our efforts
will be directed towards fostering an environment that respects the
individual, encourages leadership, stimulates innovation, upholds integrity,
and demands excellence.
Charter
We are committed to
working towards an environment that values diversity which, in turn,
requires that we create, promote, and maintain activities and programs
to further our understanding of individual and group diversity through
education.
